Introduction
Dear Church Family,
When Christians gather for worship on the Lord’s Day we are making a profound statement: Every Sunday is Resurrection Sunday.
This weekly commitment, however, doesn’t mean our recognition of the yearly Easter holiday should be routine. Our annual celebration of Easter also holds profound significance. The purpose of this Easter devotional is to lean into that significance.
The daily readings are inspired by some of the initial statements from Paul in the book of Romans. Paul starts the book of Romans telling the reader what the gospel is about. In verse 4 of Chapter 1 Paul says Christ’s resurrection makes a declaration. It declares that Jesus is who he proclaimed to be—God’s Son. Paul is saying the gospel, at its most fundamental level, is about God’s Son.
The 36 devotional readings leading up to Easter will center on the divinity, humanity, authority, teaching, identity, and work of Jesus. He is The Risen Son. His defeat of death marks him off as utterly distinct, and our salvation can only be found though Him.
May his name be praised forever.
