Faith Bible Church, Coronavirus Response
Wednesday, April 1, 2020 Update
Dear Church Family,
Well, it looks like this new pattern of life is going to be with us for quite a while.
As mentioned in a previous message, we are NOT planning to gather in our building for Palm Sunday, Good Friday, or Easter.
We are still going to stream those worship services online, and our staff has thought of some creative ways to make these online experiences more and more meaningful.
Speaking of worship services, this Sunday, April 5, is the first Sunday of the month, which is normally the Sunday we celebrate the Lord’s Supper. We want you to know that we will not be taking the bread and cup together on Sunday.
We will, however, keep with our tradition and observe the Lord’s Supper during next week’s Good Friday Service, which will stream online on Friday, March 10, at 7:00 PM.
How will we observe the Lord’s Supper remotely? Well, it will take a little advanced planning on your part.
We are asking that you supply your own elements-bread and cup-and have them ready to take before the start of the service. At the time prompted in the service you can take each element as you are instructed.
The administration of the Lord’s Supper during these virtual services has become mildly controversial. It doesn’t need to be. It is our position that these are exceptional times. We are not establishing a new normal for the church but operating as normally as we can with the constraints given to us. If observing the Lord’s Supper in this way bothers your conscience, please refrain until we are able to gather once again.
Here are a few more ways to stay connected to Faith Bible in the days ahead:
The Children’s ministry staff will be emailing all parents a “Table Talk Lesson” on Trusting God.
Another devotional video from Pastor Mark will be delivered to your inbox.
The Gospel Coalition is promoting Saturday, April 4th as a day of fasting and prayer. You can learn more about what TGC has planned on their website.
This will be well worth your time.
Live-streaming of our worship services will continue. The Palm Sunday live-stream begins at 9:30 AM.
Services are streamed and archived at the following links:
Additionally, ABFs are meeting via Zoom and other similar technologies. Last week we had people joining ABF’s for the first time!
If you want connect to an ABF, please contact Seth Brown.
On Monday evening our Student Ministry will be live-streaming a teaching and small group time for our 6th-12th graders.
On Wednesday a drive-through Easter packet with crafts and a devotional will be available for our children (infant thru 5th grade) from 3:00-5:00 PM. The distribution will take place at the South Tower Entry and proper measures will be taken to keep things clean and safe.
On Friday, our Good Friday service will stream online at 7:00 PM. Again, please arrange for an at home observance of the Lord’s Supper.
Lastly, please remember that since more stringent shelter-in-place mandates have been given, don’t hesitate to reach out to the church staff if you have a need.
You can call this number (405-657-6166) or you can submit this online form, and we’d be happy to send someone on an important errand (groceries, postage, drug store, etc).
Be well, church. Stay healthy. We long to be with you.
Thank you for your partnership in the Gospel,
– The Elders and Staff of Faith Bible Church
