Did you know that more than ½ of the people that will believe in Jesus do so by age 12?
Did you know that by the time a child is 9 their basic moral foundation has been formed?
Did you know that by age 13 a child has formed their basic beliefs about the nature of God, the reliability of the Bible, the existence of an afterlife & the everlasting love of Jesus?
Those were some staggering statistics for me to take in both as a mother and as a part of our Children’s ministry team here at Faith Bible Church. We have a huge responsibility before us that should not be taken lightly. We have over 250 volunteers each Sunday that are pouring truth into these little hearts and minds when they are most open to the Gospel. We are helping to raise up a future generation of young people that will hopefully impact their world for Christ.
I remember a few months back when I was volunteering in a Pre-School classroom and we were talking about creation and a little boy asked, “Who is God?” Wow! We have the opportunity to share the Gospel with some children for the very 1st time and help them form their very first thoughts about who God is. Children are never too young to learn. Children are a blessing from the Lord. God makes it clear in His Word the responsibility that we have to help teach and train these young people.
“These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”
“Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.”
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
Jesus loves and values children. We are blessed to have so many children to minister to here at Faith. Be sure to say “Thank You” to your child’s teacher on Sunday. We could not make it through a Sunday without these people who volunteer their time to teach God’s word.
