My wife, Darlene, and I Just returned from a 12-day vacation which included stops to see our two grown kids in Longview, TX and Princeton, NJ. On the way to NJ, we stopped and saw the full sized replica of Noah’s Ark near Williamstown, KY built by the “Answers in Genesis” organization. It was awesome! What a dramatic reminder of both God’s judgment on sin and God’s grace in providing a way of deliverance from judgment.
JUDGMENT – God’s judgment came upon the world in Noah’s day because of the enormous commitment to sin on the part of the people on earth.
“The Lord saw how great man’s wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time.” – Genesis 6:5 (NIV84)
GRACE – God graciously provided a way salvation from the judgment of the flood by directing Noah to build the Ark.
. . . Put a door in the side of the ark . . . – Genesis 6:16 (NIV84)
“And Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives entered the ark to escape the waters of the flood.” – Genesis 7:7 (NIV84)
JESUS AND THE ARK
Jesus said “As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.” – Matthew 24:37 (NIV84
JUDGMENT – Today, we again face coming judgment from God because of worldwide sin. This time there will be no flood, but fire.
“By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.” – 2 Peter 3:6–7 (NIV84)
GRACE – Also, God has graciously provided a way of deliverance from this coming judgment. Not an Ark, but a Person, Jesus.
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” – John 14:6 (NIV84)
“I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, . . .” – John 10:9a (NASB95)
Have you entered today’s “Ark” through faith in Jesus Christ the only way and door to eternal life?
